City of Coconut Creek Hosts a Fantasy Football League

By Kevin Maher

Coconut Creek is hosting a Fantasy Football League for NFL fans to compete against other community members.

The live draft will be held at the Community Center, 1100 Lyons Road, on September 6 at 7 p.m. The league will include 12 teams. Teams must consist of at least one adult, 18 years or older, but can have an unlimited amount of team members of any age.

The buy-in amount per team is $40 for Coconut Creek residents and $50 for non-residents. Credit card payments will be accepted, but no cash or checks. Registration is ongoing until September 6 at 7 p.m. or until the league is filled.

Registration is available online or by walk-in at the Community Center or the Recreation Complex, 4455 Sol Press Blvd. A WebTrac account is needed before registering online.

The fantasy football league will run for the duration of the 2022 NFL regular season and will be held on the ESPN Fantasy Football app. A gift card prize will be awarded to first, second, and third place. First place will also receive a championship belt.

This league is the third the City of Coconut Creek has hosted, and  Jordan Erlichman, the Recreation Programmer for the city will oversee things to ensure trades are fair according to the city.

“People should expect a competitive fantasy football league that is very accurate and well run,” Erlichman added.

The decision to use Standard or Half Point PPR for scoring is still being decided upon, as well as the option of replacing team defense with individual defensive players.
