Coconut Creek Parks and Recreation’s Youth Theater is looking for participants for its live performance of Disney’s “Frozen Kids.”
Based on the movie Frozen, kids will learn different theater aspects while preparing to present their live performances.
Children ages 6 to 14 can register to participate, but space is limited to 30 participants. Registration is open now through August 20, or until full, and will operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
Register online or in-person at the Recreation Complex at 4455 Sol Press Blvd or the Community Center at 1100 Lyons Road. Participants or guardians must have a WebTrac account to register online.
Auditions will be held on September 1, and the final performance will be on December 10. Weekly classes will occur in between to prepare participants for the presentation on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Classes will not be held on October 4, November 8, 22, through 26.
The cost is $185 for Coconut Creek residents and $215 for non-residents. The city will provide performance materials and a T-shirt, but participants will be responsible for their costumes.
This is the second presentation the Youth Theater has organized, with the first being Disney’s “The Lion King Kids,” which was performed on May 7. The Lion King Kids was so successful it prompted the quick creation of Frozen Kids, according to Wayne Tobey, the Director of Parks and Recreation.
“It was just an all-out great cultural event that we provided our residents to partake in,” Tobey said. “It’s a great thing for the community.”
