Serino Park prior to the renovations {City of Margate}

Serino Park, located at 5600 SW 8th Court, is reopening to the public. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. hosted by the City of Margate.
The park will feature new amenities, such as lighting, a shaded canopy, fountains, a walking trail, a fitness court, an ADA-accessible playground, and a splash pad.
According to Michael Jones, parks and recreation director, the original playground equipment was over 20 years old and needed to be replaced with more durable material.
The Margate Community Redevelopment Agency funded the project dating back to the October 13, 2021, meeting when the CRA approved a contract with MBR Construction, Inc., to design and make improvements for a maximum amount of $1,265,000.
On Jan. 12, the CRA considered adding a swing set and the water pad, which was not part of the original agreement with MBR.
The water feature cost $122,410, while additional electrical work came in at roughly $52,000. Between those additions, site upgrades, and a CRA contingency fee, the project’s price increased by $662,792. The final tag was almost $2 million.
