A barbershop employee was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon after pulling a gun on management after learning he was being fired.

On March 2, the Margate Police Department responded to reports of an assault with a firearm at the Final Cup Barbershop located at 3205 North State Road 7.

Upon arrival, the victim recounted to officers that the altercation began when he terminated the ex-employee, later identified as Ziyad Khan, 27, of Margate.

Upon being asked to leave, records show Khan allegedly drew a black and red gun, chambered a round, and aimed it at the victim. The victim told MPD he was unsure if the gun was fired or had jammed during the incident.

A witness present during the incident, who had her child close to the scene, corroborated the victim’s account. She recounted the fear she had when she realized her child was in potential danger and shouted, “My baby is in there!”.

Soon after, Khan left the premises, fleeing the scene on foot. Not long after, Coconut Creek Police Officers apprehended Khan behind the Broward Meat and Fish store in the same plaza.

Following the victim’s identification, Khan was taken into custody.

Khan was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where he is held without bond.
